In 2010, the Cheney City Council passed Ordinance 832 allowing golf carts and Utility Vehicles to be driven on City streets. Such vehiclesshall be tagged with the City of Cheney and pay the annual fee of $30. Complete the application below and bring to City Hall, with yourdrivers license, copy of liability insurance, and vehicle for inspection.
Driver
must have a valid driver’s license and be 16 years of age.
Cannot
be operated on any highway, street, road or alley with a posted speed
limit in excess of 30 miles per hour.

Lake Road from Cherry Oaks Street to 6th Ave
North Main Street from 383rd Ct to Approximately 675 feet south of the entrance to Cherry Oaks Golf Course Clubhouse located at 1119 N Main Street
South Main Street from the entrance to the Cheney Sports Complex located at 731 S Main Street to approximately 810 feet north of said entrance to the Sports Complex
No
golf cart shall or work-site utility vehicle shall be operated on any
public highway, street, road or alley between sunset and sunrise unless
equipped with lights as required for motorcycles.
Requirements
set forth by 2018 Standard Traffic Ordinance includes head lamp, tail
lamp, turn signals, reflectors (one red reflector on rear and stop lamp)
and multiple-beam road-lighting equipment
A “slow-moving
vehicle emblem” shall be mounted and displayed in compliance with
K.S.A. 8-1717.
Every
owner of a work-site utility vehicle or golf cart registered with the city
shall provide liability coverage in accordance with section 200 of
the 2009 Edition of the Standard Traffic Ordinance.
Owner
shall display a valid registration decal affixed and displayed in
such a manner as to be clearly visible from the rear of the vehicle.
Annual
Registration with the City is to be renewed on January 1st.
Golf
carts are considered motor vehicles and shall not be operated on sidewalks or other public use areas.
