CURBSIDE RECYCLING GUIDELINES
By now, city residents should have received their new 95-gallon recycling bins. The new recycling bins are similar to the trash bins but have a bright orange lid. With the new bins, it is no longer necessary to sort your recyclables. Please wash out all food and beverage containers. Recycled oil should still be placed out separately.
If you did not receive a new recycling bin and would like one, please contact City Hall at 316-540-3622 or 316-542-3622. You will need put your old recycling tub out to be picked up.
The following items may be recycled:
- Plastic Bottles and Containers – Only #1 PETE and #2 HDPE that light shines through. This includes plastic milk containers, 2 liter soft-drink bottles and also any see-thru container which has #1 PETE or #2 HDPE designated on the bottom of the container. Colored plastics cannot be included. Please wash out all containers.
- Cans: Steel and Tin - Please wash out all containers.
- Cans: Aluminum - Please wash out all containers.
- Newspapers.
- Paper including office paper and lined notebook.
- Stapled Magazines and catalogs .
- Cardboard - We can only accept corrugated cardboard at this time. Corrugated Cardboard is any cardboard which has 2 walls of board separated by a “corrugation” in the center. Paperboard is not accepted at this time.
- Motor Oil - Please put in a watertight container.
- Glass - green, white, and brown
- Automotive batteries - please place separately.
- Brown paper sacks
Your pickup schedule is as follows:
Trash: Every Monday
Recycling:
East of Main Street -
First and Third Mondays of the Month
West of Main Street - Second and Fourth Mondays of the Month
(no recycling on fifth Mondays)
